    Software/Hardware Inventory with Agent


    Hi,

    I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a hardware/software inventory tool that comes with an agent.

    I manage a windows network of about 150 machines and would like to be able to install the agent on each machine and then get an overview of all the machines on the network with list all their installed hardware and software. Also we have laptops that leave the network. I would like them to "phone home" once in a while to check in.

    The reason I'm looking for an agent vs agent-less is I don't want to have to poke holes in the local firewalls or have to configure remote access per machine. Just looking to deploy the agent. Spiceworks almost does all this but doesn't have a stable agent yet as far as I know.

    Welcome to the forums.

    A couple years back at a previous job, they deployed GFI LanGuard. They used it to manage patching and USB devices, because apparently users didn't realise their USB drives they saved their stuff on were infected and kept reinfecting the work computers.
