NAS shows as "Media Server" and "Other Device"

    Hi All,

Thanks in advance for any help.

    I purchased and installed an Iomega 34766 NAS yesterday. I have three machines that run Windows 7 (2 - Ulitmate 32bit & 64bit; 1 - Professional 32bit) and a Windows xp machine.

I am having trouble getting the Windows 7 Professional 32bit machine to show the NAS as a computer under the network folder. It will show the NAS as a Media Device and Other device. I can access the device as a media device, but when I click other device, it opens a IE browser and errors out. I have not been able to map the device in windows explorer either. This NAS has a print server built in and it will not show the printer either.

My other two Windows 7 Ultimate 32 & 64 bit (Desktop-Windows & HTPC) machines work just fine and the NAS shows under the computer and media device and does not show as other device. The printer pluged in the NAS works like a charm.

The primary computer that I need to work is the windows 7 professional version (LPC-PC) thats not working.

I posted a screen shot of what I am looking at from the computer that does not work and one of the machines that is working.

As a side note, LPC-PC is my laptop and it is the machine that is not working. Desktop-Windows and HTPC are the two machines that it is working just fine on.

I am able to connect to LPC-PC from Desktop-Windows; however I can not connect to Desktop-Windows from LPC-PC.

When I first started messing with LPC-PC it was not even showing period in the network folder. I had to start some services and change them to automatic, so that my network discovery would stay turned on when I clicked save.

    Thanks again for any help.

Well I solved my own problem and feel a little silly. I just happened to check my msconfig.exe and I had it set to selective startup with the first option for services unchecked.

Everything is now up and running. My NAS is showing and I can connect to all my computers.
