    Im No Good With Networking!!!

    Hello guys,

Im looking for some help with a network issue.

My missus just got herself an Android tablet which connects by wireless to my router so she can have wifi access to the net.
We then installed on it Es File Explorer - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roid.pop&hl=en so she could have access to my data drive attached to by Pc (Its an external with my whole user profile on/Folders etc) I chose which files I wanted to share, Imputed my windows 7 user name, password and ip address on the Es File Explorer setup and Bingo she can access the files I have shared.
The issue I have is that no-where in Windows 7 can I see her device. Its not on the network map or In device manager or devices and printers, its as though its not there at all.
The only place it shows itself is in the DHCP list of the router.
How can I get it to show in case say I wanted to access files on the Droid or transfer data via the wifi.

I an new to networking as I always used mobile broadband so this is my first Home Network Attempt. The only things connected is My pc, A smart LG Tv, Sky Box and the Droid.

    Many Thanks

    Danny

Apparently you must first set up a password on the Windows 7 machine first if you don't already have one. You can also set up the Windows 7 machine to log on automatically.
    Log On Automatically at Startup

Post #6 in the link below explains the procedure which uses a User name and password plus the IP of the Windows 7 machines needs to be typed into EStrongs on the droid. I copied the procedure here.

OK got it to work with windows 7

Go to Control Panel and select user accounts on your Win 7 PC.
I only have 1 account on there and its mine and is set as Administrator.
    The account is called Home
I set a password for this account. (so now when you turn on your PC you will have to enter that password every time) (I know a PITA) "NOT REALLY BECAUSE YOU CAN EASILY SET UP AUTO SIGN IN."

Open EStrongs on your Droid > click on Remote > press Menu button > New > Server > add you IP address....

    Mine was 192.168.1.101

I entered my user name Home
    I entered my Password xxxx

    Click OK and it connected!

Of course for all this to work you MUST be connected to your WIFI connection not 3G

The thread in the link below shows the directions for this at post #6 and talks about it more. Hope this helps, chev. :)

Yes that's the procedure I followed and its all connected and sharing files on the hdd but the device doesn't show up anywhere on the Pc. I would have thought It would show as connected somewhere as the Tv and sky box do.
