Why is my router flashing like a UFO when my computer isn't on?

I've always wanted to know why even when my computer is shut down & completely off that the Netgear router is still going crazy flashing like there is activity? Well if there is activity what is it? I have my router locked.

Might be wireless devices connected to your router through wifi,usually blinks when something is using the internet.Do you have some type of wifi setup in your house with some devices like laptops,iphones,ipods,tablets ect..?
