    pinging, is it safe?

    Hi, I was downloading from a movie torrent site without any problems but since yesterday it stopped, I was getting a message from my download client that ''tracker was sending invalid data''. I contacted the administrator there and whatever he did my download started.After that he said that I need to ping their adress and tell them what I see.Whats all that about?Is that safe?Thanks in advance.

    Yes it's safe. The output will look something like this:

    Code:
    ping www.mozilla.org
    Pinging bedrock-prod.zlb.phx.mozilla.net [63.245.217.105] with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 63.245.217.105: bytes=32 time=71ms TTL=49
    Reply from 63.245.217.105: bytes=32 time=76ms TTL=49
    Reply from 63.245.217.105: bytes=32 time=71ms TTL=49
    Reply from 63.245.217.105: bytes=32 time=71ms TTL=49

    Ping statistics for 63.245.217.105:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 71ms, Maximum = 76ms, Average = 72ms
    What they are looking for is the ping times and lost packet rate.
