    Rename my home network

    Just double click here:

    to open this:
    Attachment 27340
Is this what you want to do?
I tried opening both of these to fix the same problem of re-nameing my home network. I've got one PC with 7 and straight wired ethernet cord. One PC running Vista and it's wireless to Belkin router. It's nameing the new Belkin router as network 3, it's also showing my previous XP system as it was named "Home".

    Thanks

    Fixed

I was having the same issue. The reason being the rename is not as prominent as it was in Windows Vista.

Open up your Network and Sharing Center and simply left click on the Icon (under View your active networks) to rename it. By default this icon is a house.

    Thanks from me, too!

Isn't it wonderful how Windows just keeps getting easier and easier to use? LOL!

My Windows 7 network insists the network name is "Network 2" (What happened to Network 1?) I've tried the left click on the icon for Network 2 and nothing happens.

Wired Ethernet using a router (for the computers) and a wired Ethernet network switch (for the printers).

I'd like to do the same thing as the original question - rename the network, and I get nothing when I right click on the house icon for the network. The links that explained it to the original poster are dead. Does anyone have the details?

This is an old thread but as of 8Oct2011 it's still the top Google hit for the subject.
No other hit reveals the answer, nor does this thread.
    Here's the answer!
In Windows 7 click on Start and in the 'Search Programs and Files' search bar enter "show connections", reflecting you to 'Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections'.
Right click on the Connection you want to rename and choose 'Rename' from the right click menu.

This is not yet possible in windows 7 for wired connections

Refer: Create or modify network profiles

It clearly says: "Windows doesn't save wired network profiles"

There is a post here about how to rename the connections in Windows 7. Tried and it works for me.
The trick is there is no button or link to click on - you just click on the picture next to the network name. It's not obvious until someone says you can do it.
