Cannot print to printer connected to router

I have two computers connected wirelessly to a router. One is a Mac running OSX and one is a PC running Windows Vista. The router is an Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station.

I have a printer connected to the router with a USB cable.

Both computers can successfully connect to the internet and they both can print to the network printer.

A third computer is connected to this network, a new PC running Windows 7. It can successfully connect to the internet via the router but I cannot print to the network printer. The printer driver was installed automatically in the new PC by connecting the printer directly to the PC via USB cable. The printer worked fine when it was connected directly. But when I reconnected the printer to the router, the new PC does not print.

I have gone to Control Panel, Devices and Printers, right-clicked the printer, selected Printer properties, clicked the Sharing tab, and made sure that “share this printer” is checked. The printer is set as the default printer. I have tried to find a solution in SevenForums and other user groups but no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When you install a network printer, you can't plug it into the printer via USB and then disconnect it, hoping it will work. Windows will still look for the USB connection - it doesn't know the printer is connected to a router.

Since the printer is connected to an Apple router, hopefully the router instructions will explain how to get the printer sharing to work. I'm sure there's going to be something about creating a tcp/ip port, but I don't know for certain.

    Bonjour

Thank you for reminding me that I needed an Apple utility called Bonjour Printer Services. After installing this on my new PC it enabled the PC to detect the printer connected to the Apple router. It works fine now.
