Does it happen immediately after you start the Internet Explorer?

In general, IE is a rather insecure browser that does not adhere to all web standards, I would advise you to give a try to Firefox, Chrome or Opera (to name a few) and never look back at the old IE days.
    I haven't used IE in 7 years I believe.

Blaming this problem on IE is ridiculous.

Why not try going into the Internet Options for IE then click on the Advanced settings tab, using the reset button "lower right" will most likely fix the problem.

i tried that chev i am using opera browser now and my cpu is at 40%-50% and heavy images and video sites spike it up 75%-91% i think opera is more optimized for my video memory (8 MB non- upgradeable) but its still not great i guess since this pc was built for a corporate windows 2003 server use so its made for emails and MS access, and not heavy websites. IE8 is a hogger with this desktop. But with 4Gb of ddr and a 1.7ghz processor why then throw a little 8MB video memory. Its a dell poweredge 600sc came with 2003MS server but XP PRO is installed.officially doesnt support xp pro according to manufacturer website.

ive been working on a few of these computers. One is slightly different running win7 i thought i was in a xp pro forum. I do apologize for getting it mixed up i should have been in an xp forum LOL too much coffee in my system you guys.
