"Access Denied" when trying to modify a joystick .ini file.
Hi all.
I know there are loads of threads about access denied, and I have read loads of them. So far I haven't cured the problem. Maybe I can get a pointer or two please?
I have a Windows 7 Ultimate PC. There is 1 user, which I will call "Fred". I know there is a hidden Administrator account, that is currently disabled still. I can't find how to enable it, but I'll keep looking later.
I have several drives attached but all the files I'm currently looking at are on my C drive and have not been created while in other, older user accounts.
I have Google Earth. My son likes to use the flight simulator and wants to use our joystick, a Saitek Cyborg Evo. I have installed the latest drivers and firmware and it works perfectly in the configuration tool. In Google earth however, the Z axit is reversed meaning the rudder and throttle are mixed up. This can be changed in the ini file which is stored at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google Earth\client\res\flightsim\controller
I can manipulate the file in many ways. I have created a folder in the controller folder called "old ini" and moved all ini's into there with no problem. I have copied the Saitek ini back to the original place with no problems. I can open it, change it read it with no problems. But the moment I try to save my changes I get "Access Denied".
The properties are:
As you can see it is not read only, it does have full permission for read write and full access. I have gone to the folder above and found it's properties to be read only. I changed this and it asked if this was to cascade to all folders and files below. I said yes of course. I still have no access.
Can anyone advise on this old chestnut please?
Many thanks.
Mike.
