Laptop connects to wireless router but with no internet access

It was most likely the reset IP file which sometimes takes two restarts in order to sort everything out, not to mention disabling the virtual miniport adaptor. Of course the second you went back online Windows tried to download updates as it usually does when the connection is working.

I doubt the problem just magically fixed itself...

I would still follow the instructions on changing the security and encryption for the wireless connection and I would definitely disable Bonjour in Windows services. :)

Nick, you should follow all instructions I previously gave, including disabling the Msoft virtual wifi miniport, running the reset file, and disabling Bonjour if you have iTunes installed.

Just download and unzip the Reset IP file that I loaded earlier, run the file and your machine will reboot automatically. It may take a second reboot to fix problems.

It may help to go into your routers wireless settings and set to use the correct security and encryption as I suggested earlier.

Right I've done all of the above and still no luck. The computer just restarts like normal.

So did you disable BOTH of the Msoft virtual wifi miniport adaptors, you have two of them showing there in the ipconfig. You need to go into Device Manger for that. :)

Have you run any virus scan's lately?

Have you tried running the sfc/scannow command to check for any file corruption issues?

Hello, all! Like NickF, I, too, am having the same problem regarding connecting to the internet. I've tried all of the troubleshooting as listed above, but I don't have a virtual wifi adapter on my laptop which I can disable.

In your case you should first uninstall all the 6 to 4 tunnel adaptors as it seems you have too many of them which can cause connection problems.

You can do it manually by going into Device Manager, top of page to "View" tab then choose "show hidden devices" look to Network Adaptors and uninstall all the tunnel adaptors you see there and reboot your system, a new one will be created automatically.

I also have a file that will do this for you automatically.

Thank you, chev65! I have done as you recommended and removed the tunnel adapters using your attachment. I also ran the IPReset .exe and let my computer restart. I'm still unable to connect to the internet, I'm afraid.
