    Hello Distant2soul

These can be a bit fiddly to get right. I still use a three dongle when out and about with work and come accross this from time to time. Best bet is to uninstall the modem and 3connect program from add/remove programs. (The modem will be labelled as ZTE or Huawei) and reboot.
Insert the dongle again and let it install, after its finished installing remove it again, reboot then insert it once again to finish off installing. (For some reason this method seems to work as it installs the software in 2 stages)

Just to check (don't be offended) if its a top up dongle you do have credit available don't you
If its a contract the bill is paid

Post back with any results if this doesn't work along with model number

@Danny I tried that did not work. Its a huawei e122 have it about six seven months Thing is it connected and I could use the Internet up until a few days ago. There is no ping. I did not install any new software but windows might of updated not sure. Also it works on other computers(xp) and windows seven!! I checked to see if there was any hidden USB using huawei and deleted them.

Guess you still not got this working lets try something else.
I presume you are connecting using the 3connect software!!

Plug the dongle in, wait for the three connect software to start then disconnect and close it and try connecting through windows. In the list of available networks bottom right hand corner in the system tray there should be a dial up/ vpn network labelled 3connect or 3 uk. Try and connect using that.

Yes it can block the connection and is now famous for doing so, if you have McAfee you need to read the link below. :)

You have no Internet access and/or see error messages from McAfee on your computer
