Netgear DG834v3 router fails to connect to the internet.

Not my week so far yet another problem. Been trying all day to connect to the internet with the above router. Happened accross a screen saying Firewall settings.
It says for the inbound services "BLOCK always" is this my problem?
I have tried to amend this to " ALLOW always" to which the outbound services are already set.
My next problem is it is asking for the inbound services to be adjusted so I have setthe service parameter to ALL, action ALLOW always but now is the problem it wants an address putting into the 4 boxes for the Send to LAN Server parameter
I have tried various setting but to no avail. Exactly where can I get this information from?

Sorry if it's not overly clear but I'm a heathen when it comes to this sort of thing.
    Thanks

Goto back to factory settings and try to connect. Then modify one value at a time and test.... if you don't what you're doing

Above all, do not allow for incoming connections. It's highly unlikely you need to allow anything from "the wild" to initiate a connection to your router.
Reset to default, as mentioned above and if it doesn't start working, it may just be toast, or it may be something else.
More information about your setup would be helpful.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for the input. Decided next thing I will do is reload the firmware with the latest version from NETGEAR. The router may be one that was supplied by SKY
and they are know to tweak the firmware specifically to their specifications.
Knowing how they operate the could have it set that other ISPs are unable to connect.

So you are using one router, that is also a Modem supplied by this Sky ISP on another ISPs network? More then likely it is configure to only work with one specific ISP, Sky.

You'll need the correct model from your current ISP and then a Stand alone router, that is if your new ISPs modem is not also a router.

You'll also need the logon Username and password you need to use to connect to your new ISPs network, that is if the new ISP has not already configured that on Their Modem Router combo box.

    Hi

Thanks guys for your input. Problem now solved. Was caused by my still having the D-Link router connected into my PC as well as the Netgear replacement one. So as the D-Link one was there from the beginning the LAN connection was using its IP address and not that of the Netgear one. Disconnecting the D-Link router solved the problem.
