Code 8024001F, unable to connect to internet

I've recently changed hard drives as the last one failed.
I've got windows home premium running fine but it won't connect to the internet.

It says 'plug an ethernet cable into this computer', i press the button to 'keep trying to fix problem' and it comes up with 'a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.
All i want is to connect to the wireless internet at home but it won't pick up any??

I've tried to check for windows updates but obviously can't whilst not having any internet and the code 8024001F comes up?

Any help would be appreciated. cheers

    Hi there,

When you changed the hard drive, did you reinstall the Windows Operating System and install all device drivers including the Network Adapters for both wired and wireless connection?

BTW...The code signifies that you can't do Windows Updates bec. currently you don't have access to the internet 'yet'.
