Shared file permissions not working properly

Im trying to share a harddrive connected to my computer over a router, and the drive + files can be seen on other computers (all are Windows 7), but nothing can be done with the files. I tried both the batch program found here and using the "Create a Shared Folder Wizard". The permissions for both were full for everyone, and yet no one else can access the files. How can I make it so that everyone can at least execute and copy the files?

When you say everyone has full control, i assume this is the share permissions.
You also need to look at the 'Security' permissions for those users too (right click the folder >> Properties >> Security tab)

There is 1 other thing to consider, the same username / password needs to be on all computers.
    Example:

    Computer 1 has username jamie
    Computer 2 has username sally
    Computer 3 has username dave

computer 1 has the shared hard drive attached --

you will need to create the user names sally and dave on computer 1 with the same password as they have on computer 2 and 3.

    I hope this helps.

Have you put your files in the correct folder?

Just double checked a few things, as you say you can see the files but can't do anything with them i would take a look at the security permissions.

Do you get any error messages? (access denied?)

@JDobbsy1987 I changed the folder sharing settings so that no password is needed. In the security tab, there is the group called everyone and "everyone" has all the permissions set.

On other computers, for each file, in the properties it says "You do not have permissions to view or modify this file's permission settings"

@Roderunner what do you mean? the files are in the harddrive. the harddrive is accessed through the network link in explorer

I think windows requires a password to be set (i maybe wrong)

try setting up the same username/password on the computers and see if it allows you to access the files then.
You could also click edit on the security permissions to add the user you have just put on all the computers. (you will need to set this on the machine with the share)

I changed the settings so that a username/passphrase are needed to access the drive, so now it works, since im logging in as me, and I have full permissions. Is there no way to not require a password but still give everyone permissions?

The normal location for files to be put are in the 'Libraries' and are not shared automatically. If put as in my image they are. Here is how I used to do it. File sharing.zip

I think libraries are a preference thing rather than the normal place to share files, i have never used libraries for storing, managing or sharing files
