    Network Discovery not working

I'm running Windows 7 Professional and it's completely up to date. I use it at home and at work in a domain. Network discovery is enabled but it's not working (not discovering any other pcs or printers on either the home network or in the domain). The only computer that shows up in the network is my computer. If I enter a valid name (\\name) in explorer, it opens. I first noticed this when I tried to install the driver for a network printer. It can't find the printer so the installation failed. However, if I try to add the printer from windows and search for it on the network, the printer does show up. I've read a lot of threads about this, but I haven't found a solution. Any suggestions?

    Hi,

Please have a read of this, specifically the Notes section, and see if that helps:

Network Discovery - Turn On or Off in Windows 7

Thanks for your response. I went through everything. All of the services are running. I've tried stopping and restarting them but that made no difference. Any other things I can look at?

I have a further update. NetBIOS over tcp/ip was disabled. I enabled it and now other computers can see my computer including the shared public folder. I still cannot other computers. If I manually type in a computer using windows explorer, it will open. I will see it underneath the network on the folder view (left side), along with my computer, but it will not appear on the right side. Only my computer will appear on the right side.
