    High Ping Issues in Games

Hi, I just went from using Windows XP Pro x64 to Windows 7 x64.

Any FPS game I played on XP I would get a constant ping of 10-25 in any Chicago based server. After going over to Windows 7, any Chicago server I join I get over 100 ping...and I don't know what is wrong. I've done the speed test, and I'll post three ping traces to three Chicago servers, I'm running off a cable modem, with no router, until as of today when I installed 7, I never had any ping issues before. It also seems like my ping issues only coincide with only games I play. My ping on Ventrilo, anything else are normal.

take a look at your IP config, I had a little ping issues on a few games my self. I disabled IPv6 and it helped a little, maybe it was the IPv6 maybe I got lucky who knows. you will note that if you do an IP config you will see several tunnel adapters. also check your firewall, that is if you have one. I started using Kaspersky Internet Security and my pings went way high even with permissions granted. if I turn off the firewall the ping drops, Im guessing its because the FW isnt quite made for Win7 yet.

im not sure if any of that will help or if you have tried them. I hope it was a little help

I've just accepted the fact that seven has either bad networking code or maybe has something to do with CPU usage during the games. Either way I have not found a way to fix it and as i type this im going BACK to XP.

Someone, be it a computer savvy person or microsoft, needs to fix this or half of the gamers are going to boycott seven.

My fix from the thread "Windows 7 High Ping Fix" only worked for 3-4 reboots and has not worked since then.
