Network Adapter: AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20) Atheros

So 4 days ago while i was sleeping i had left my dekstop still running.i woke up and tried to open mozilla but it wouldnt load any sites. So after having a technician check my desktop he could not identify the problem. problem is that both my brother's and mother's pcs can browse and use the internet via wifi+ethernet mine cannot browse or connect to any programs like steam or diablo3.exe. the weird thing is that on the bottom right corner next to the timezone settings it says that i am connected to the internet with internet access. what i am trying to prevent is to format the pc because i will lose alot of stuff that are essential to my work. is there a way to understand what is going on? when i run a trouble shooting it says something about peer service not running but i couldnt find an answer on google :/

running windows7 ultimate 32bit. i had internet and everything worked just fine 4 days ago. btw the initial search on the google gave me something about norton product 360 and i can recall i had this advertisement of a norton product that i should download and register but i always clicked remind me later. cheers for any help

You will want to go into Windows services to make sure that the peer networking service is started and set to manual.

There should be three different peer services there. You need to type services.msc into the run box in order to open up Windows services. :)

As for the connectivity problem. You might try resetting winsock for that.

Download that file and to run it right-click on winsockfix.bat and click on “Run as administrator”.

    Hi,

Did you try doing System Restore? If no and if this issue started occurring after doing some recent software changes on your computer, then I would suggest try restoring your system back to a date when it was working fine. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only.

For System Restore steps, you can refer to the URL mentioned: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

Kindly revert and let us know the status.
