this is interesting. I just opening up Revo uninstaller and checked my system information, and when I clicked on modem - nothing. Not a thing is showing. It's like I ahve no modem installed. yet here I am surfing the web. Now that's a mystery why it's not showing up in my system info when all other installed hardware is; sound and video cards, monitor etc. but no modem.

also, looking in the same system window, under Software environment > network connections, again there's nothing listed. not a thing. Even in Device Manager, I can't see any Modem or reference to Lincsys listed.

Am i hunting down the right road or am I sending myself on a wild goose-cahse? Cheers.

Of course you've turned the modem off for 30 seconds and re-booted. Have you tried re-installing the modem and software as if from scratch?

I have seen this issue before on vista. The way I resolved the issues was running sfc /scannow. After that fixed the errors i was able reinstall the windows installer.

    I would just run
sfc /scannow from a command prompt.

Problem solved. Would you belive the modem router wasn't setup properly. I issue happened when I was setting my ISP username and password. When I last installed the router, I entered my name instead of myname and ISP as a whole email string. myname@isp.com.au. that one difference has caused my whole firewall issue preventing windows adn other programs updating and registering. Windows is now registering fine. Talk about back to basics. Thanks guys for your help. Cheers.
