A Problem With My Linksys Router.

For several months now, Windows won't install updates, programs won't register online, and now Windows won't register, saying "there is no modem insatlled". Yet magically, all lights are flashing and I can surf the web. I highly suspect the issue is with my modem. Linksys tells me it's a Windows issue and MS tells me it's a router issue. So here I am asking Windows users at large. What oin earth could be causing this issue? Any suggestion would be welcomed. Cheers all.

    Hi,

During these problems, could you still access the internet? What firewall are you using?

Hi Golden, that's what MS asked. I'm using trend micro, but this problem also happened when i turned TM off. I just don't get it.

the issue's clearly in either wiondows or the router.

HI all, I've just gotten the error code: 0x80072EFE. It's to do with a connection issue.

Is the router fairly new? Can you pinpoint when this issue started?

it started several months ago when i reinstalled Windows. I've reinstalled it several times. The updates install ok at the PC shop, but as soon I connect here - nothing. Even my lap top has the same issue when it's connected to the router. But Linsys says, Noooo, it's definately not the router because I can surf the web.

OK. Have you tried disabling Trend Micro? Please try turning it OFF, and turning on Windows Firewall.
