THE CORRECT DRIVERS ARE ON YOUR LAPTOP ALREADY, PLEASE READ>
There's a lot of well meaning but conflicting solutions to this problem out there; BUT...Here's the quickest solution; I tried all the rest; and please note that THIS WORKED. It's a Factory Restore to Original Configuration. No wiping the hard drive, no reinstalling from scratch, etc.; no goofy websites with 'free' driver downloads; which are a big ruse to buy some other useless crap... THE DRIVERS ARE ON YOUR LAPTOP ALREADY (On a Gateway/ASUS THEY ARE)
READ BELOW BEFORE Doing THIS** YOU Need TO Backup personal files- they'll be gone after this fix.
From OFF position, Press and hold RIGHT ALT KEY+F10 then press power button; your doing this all at once- once powered up; let go and follow prompts to reset to factory specs. This reinstalled the correct software to get this driver and wireless product working.
NOTE!! *You need to back up personal info to a cheapo drive or thumb drive
ALL OF Your DOCS, Emails, Pictures will be gone. - Just backem up and move on. Follow prompts to join the wireless network, etc. etc. Back in action.
