how to share data through LAN ?

the simplest LAN is two computers connected through a wire

how to share data (files) b/w these two devices without using net ?
    1- just using a wire
    2- using a router

the other question is about WAN .. what are examples of WAN other than internet ?

    1. To share data you have to create a share one the PC that you would like to have access. there are 3 ways to do that public sharing, homegroup, and folder sharing, and each PC needs have File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks installed. You can view in your adapter properties.

    2. Other forms of WAN include site to site connections via T1, T3 ... etc. The term WAN means Wide Area Network - any type of connection that are coming from a different geographical area is considered a WAN.

Windows 7: Right click the folder or drive you want to share and click sharing tab and then click advanced sharing. Click on the share this folder check box and click permissions then click add and then write the computer name you want to share it with eg. \\john-pc

    How To Create a Homegroup

    Public Folder Sharing

    Folder Sharing

Telephone would be considered a WAN only if it spans accross a geographical area. Telephone inside a company would be considered a LAN.
