Crashing when pluging in Belkin Wireless Adaptor

    Hello all

What a great forum you have going here, the tutorials and the content is amazing .... Well done and keep up the great work :)

I need some HELP... i have been having a lot of problems with my Windows 7 install (using 7000) i have finally managed to get it quite stable after a lot of crashing but i still have a HUGE PROBLEM.

Last night i plugged in my wireless PCI Card a Belkin F5D7010xx and installed it through Device manager and i didnt need a driver CD, Windows installed it spot on and it worked great, even shut down re-booted and NO Issues....

The problem, today i have come to my PC and booted it up and it locked up straight away on the user page, so i had no option but to use the main power switch to shut down .. so .. i unplugged the Belkin card and it booted spot on with no problems so i plugged in my card and straight away the power light lit up on the card and CRASH PC locked up if i unplug it again it still remains in the crashed state so again i use the main power button ... This time i decided to boot in safe mode with the Belkin card fitted and well i was shocked, it booted up with no issues at all and connects to teh internet fine ....

I am extremely confussed, my laptop is not very powerfull its a compaq presario 2500 2.4ghz and 1gb ram could that be an issue .. oh im running 32-bit beta 7000

I really hope you can help me, im not im going to have to re-install XP cannot live without the internet

    Thank you in advance

    Chris

    Hi Romulinx2

Thank you for the information, im a little confused the link you have posted ore for Netgear equipment and the PCI card i have is Belkin, are they universal drivers? also how do i erase a driver from my system that was installed by windows it self? my card doesnt appear in device manager unless it is plugged in.... mind you saying that if i boot in safe mode it works OK with the card fitted so i could uninstall the driver...

If the netgear drivers are compatible with my Belkin card an idea which one i should be using or is it a case of suck it and see.

    Thanks

PS i have just trie searching for a Belkin Driver and it asked me to download Driver Max software to my system, is this what you meant by try this? i will install it under safe mode tonight and see what happens :)

Sorry these drivers are for a usb adapter. Will look around for your drivers. :) Have you tried these drivers? http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&aid=6003

    Hey Chris,

Im just curious as to how you are doing with the belkin G adapter. Have you tried RC yet? Hopefully you will get this, as I have the same adapter and just wanted some feedback from another belkin G user.

    thanks.
