Yes I converted that IPreset file from a .bat to the .exe and the software runs a little advertisement which is kind of cool. Good thing is I now know what the problem isn't.

Try the driver I posted and make sure about the dual band settings in the router and adaptor.

You can get to your routers page by typing 192.168.0.1 into the URL of your browser. Need to make sure about the security and encryption plus the dual band settings need to be the same on both the router and the adaptor.

You might try and install the utility software from TPlink which you can get in the link below.

before I install the driver, I can't access 192.168.0.1 which my instinct tells me there's another problem.

Accessed the router from my laptop and it says encryption: CIPHER_AUTO channel:11 as for the frequency can't find it. I did found that my desktop is the only one in the network connected with 802.11n

In that case I'd say that you need to uninstall completely Avast. Most of these so called A/V's are famous for blocking internet connections. Use one of the Avast uninstall utilities for this.

The driver doesn't work with the adapter I have, I do have the adapters driver CD and the update of that driver which are currently installed.

That is probably because your ipconfig shows you have a working IP address, so you should be online but something is blocking the connection.

The router settings for security and encryption need to be correct. You were looking at the channel settings I believe.

Removing Avast would be my first move if this was me.

Well I could access facebook, after that I lost internet access again (the lower right thing says I do have internet access) ... nevermind I have internet access again I have the feeling the internet speed is fluctuating like crazy. My usual download rate is 6XX kbps (ISP in Peru suck) right now I'm DLing at 10kbps ... and now at 0kpbs

    (Avast is gone)
