Connecting windows 7 and windows 8

Hello. Can I connect 2 laptops, one with windows 7 and one with windows 8, through an ethernet cable ( i want to transfer datas between them, that's why i ask). If so, how should i configure them to make it work? Thanks in advance!

A much easier way is to copy to a CD on one and take the CD to the other PC to transfer.

Make sure they are both on the same network.

Use a usb flash drive or an external drive to transfer files between machines, otherwise network the two computers together.

In order to use a network you need to:

    1. Make sure your computers are connected to the same router or switch. If you have neither of these, use a crossover cableto connect the computers directly to each other.

    2. Make sure both computers are in the same workgroup.

    3. Make sure both computers have IP addresses on the same subnet.

    4. Make sure file and printer sharing is turned on for both computers.

If you have a router just connect both to that with cables and then Share the drive and or folders you want to copy your data from. Log in to that Win 7 PC from the Win 8 PC (NO HOMEGROUP) and copy away.
