Need help with proper connection to ADSL modem at start up

    Hi,

I have a notebook that is connected to ADSL modem via Ethernet cable.

I don't know how it happened but at a certain moment after I rebooted it, my network connections started looking like this:

I have an extra unidentified network and at the start up my notebook tries to connect to it and fails.

So I have to manually disable and enable Local Area Connection for it to start working and things look like they should:

This happens every time I start up Windows.

Can anyone please tell me how to fix it, so my notebook connects properly at the start up?

    Thanks!

Is this modem just an ADSL modem or is it also a router? Most all are both modem and router but anything is possible. Or you have turned off the router section by placing the modem into Bridged Ethernet mode which will pass the public IP down to whatever piece of Ethernet hardware that is connected to it and inputs the correct PPPoE log in creds.

Need make and model of modem to go further.

The model is Siemens SpeedStream 4200.

I didn't change anything in it for a long time though.

I found "Static Route Configuration" page on my modem, it's currently empty with Destination, Net Mask, Next Hop and Interface fields in it.

Should I enter something in it?

The Interface field has two options: Local Area Connection and PPPoE.
