Windows 7 Won't Open WD My Book Live drive in Network
So I installed a WD My Book Live 2TB NAS storage device to store and make available my music, photo and video collection.
I plan on using it on various devices including:
- Acer 3820T laptop running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit
- Acer 5920G laptop running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit
- HTPC (AMD A6-3500) running Win 7 HP 64 Bit
- iPad 2
- Integra 80.3 DHC processor (AV)
I installed the My Book in my basement and attached it to my Cisco dpc3825 modem/router, and set it up using the older 5820G laptop. On that laptop, after installation, I can see the folders that I created in the WD My Book when I go into the Explorer as follows:
However, in the 3820T and the HTPC, the folders simply won't show up when I go into the Explorer. This is what I get:
I have to manually right click on the WD My Book Icon in the Storage devices area and click "Open" to get access to the folders.
This isn't overly useful, as other applications won't/can't do this and they simply don't see the folders or the My Book in the Network section.
I'm thinking it has to have something to do with the Network settings, but I've checked that the Services.msc are the same between the two laptops and HTPC, and that the sharing is the same.
But something must be amiss and it's driving me batty!
Anyone have an idea what is going on?
Thanks!
