Remote Desktop Connection just started Disconnecting within minutes
I am using the Windows-7 Remote Desktop Connection tool from my (client) desktop computer (Win7) to work on my basement located home media center and security monitor (target) computer (Win7 Pro). Both machines are up-to-date on all Windows downloads within the last 4 days. Both machines are 64 bit.
This has been working without any problems for about a year, but a day ago it stopped working, within 0.5-5 minutes after the connection was established. All of a sudden I am getting an error message that states . . .
"Your Remote Desktop session has ended. Another user connected to the remote computer, so your connection was lost. ..."
Both computers have a single User Account (Admin) with full privileges. There are no other accesses actually occurring at the target computer.
Both machines are connected on a Cisco LAN with high bandwidth and perfect signal strengths.
As I mentioned before this is a new issue that is only days old. All has worked perfectly for a year before.
Also, because of interactions with my security system, 3 days ago I disabled Automatic Updates on the target machine, preferring to periodically do them manually at appropriate times. So there should not have been an update causing this new behavior all of a sudden.
Since I depend on this (Now non-functional) remote access a lot, any assistance or ideas would be much appreciated!!!! :)
