    Online Games LAG ! ^^ w/ WIN 7.. Microsoft FTL !

    hi guys,

I have run windows xp for the past 5-6 years and my ping in online games avg ~20-40ms...

I have recently installed Windows 7 Professional 32-bit RTM and my ping now hangs around ~80-120+ms.

I updated all the new drivers, Mobo (gigabyte homepage), chipset, VGA (ATI>AMD), audio, LAN... you name it .. have run multiple software to check if the drivers are all up to date and diagnostic comes back saying that all are the most current drivers..

WTF MICROSOFT !!! ... If you do a quick google search on "online games lag windows 7" hundreds of pages come up with lots of people having this problem. Even though the presenation of windows 7 is lovely, if the online gamers are getting lag (high ping) they are going to lose many customers !

If i personally cant figure this out within the next few days will downgrade to xp again which is a shame bc i really like windows 7 but i love online gaming more !

I have read various forums and sites where there are suggestions to use regedit and go into your HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE etc... but why wouldnt such a modern OS have support for GAMERS ?!?! Will most of the gamers out there have to go into there regedit and change various settings just to play online games at a decent PING ? I think this is a loss for us and i hope it is fixed by the time Windows 7 is released in late october ..

Has anyone else had this issue and were you able to fix it ?

    Thanks ...

This is how i have solved the problem..

I ran the updates on my Windows 7 RTM Professional x86 and now my Online Lag in Counter Strike Source has gone back to what it was when i was using xp. I dont have time to go through each update and work it out which one it was that fixed the issue.. But yay !!! I can now use "Windows7" and play online games at a normal Ping.

My advice to you guys out there having this problem is to install the windows updates april-october 09... these may help you solve your online game high ping issue...

let us know if this works ... cheers
