    Wireless

Disclaimer: I know very little about wireless.

Bought a new printer that has Win 7 drivers. It's wireless as well as USB. First question -- Isn't USB faster than wireless?

I have got a dual Lan on my mbo and am only using one side of it to connect to the net. I don't know if it would be of any use for what I am asking about. I thought about a PCI wireless card and an adhoc config to connect to the printer. I don't really know what my options are. Someone take me by the hand and get me pointed in the correct direction.

unless you really need the wireless functionality, i would stick with the usb. you won't notice much difference in printing speeds - the printing will still take the same length of time, only difference is in data transfer speeds.

you say you connect to the net through one of your lan ports - do you go through some kind of router?

if you really want to use wireless with the printer, i would suggest upgrading to a wireless router, that you can also connect your pc to, with a wire if you wish (and should).

I'm connected via a cable modem. If I won't see a speed increase I not really interested in spending $$ and adding harware (potential failure point) for no good reason. My printer sets right here next to my tower. So I don't really need the wireless. No other computers in house either.

there's no point spending $$ and complicating your system for no good reason.
