    Duplicate SSID, Sporadic connection

Not sure how to describe this best.....I purchased a new laptop and router about a year ago. Six months ago we had a nearby lightning strike which runined the router. I replaced it with the exact same model. The laptop was unplugged at the time of the strike.
Ever since I replaced the router, I've had a sporadic wireless connection. I used the same SSID on the new router. Now I have what appears to be a duplicate connection. What I mean is the within "Manage Wireless Networks" the SSID appears as "XYZ" within the taskbar it appears as "XYZ 2".

Will a new SSID solve the problem?
Is there a conflict because I used the same SSID for 2 different routers? If so, where do I delete all of the prior networks I've connected to?

    Any help is appreciated.

You should just delete the old connections and create a new one.

Delete a network connection in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

For the sporadic connection problem please post the ipconfig/all form this machine.

Other problem may show up with Xirrus WiFi inspector, post screen shot of Xirrus. :)

You should also check that the latest firmware is running on the router. Check with the routers manufacturer website.
