I currently have a second workstation that has different hardware but the same Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installation...

Could I use Windows Backup to make a system repair disc (or system image?) off of my second workstation for use on the first faulty system?

Would this be better than running the original Win7 installation disc?

Ended up having to do a full reinstall of the system with the install disc. Oh well.

I was wondering what happened to you, yes sometimes the reinstall is the only way to fix these types of problems.

Saving back up images to another drive would have saved you here, I tend to partition my drives so I can save multiple images from different dates and I have good luck with the built in Windows 7 file recovery.
