Cannot connect to Windows Group Policy Client Service

I got a call from my wife saying... Hannah (my 1 year old daughter) did something to the computer. LOL When I got home the PC now says "
Windows could not connect to the group policy client service"

Also I have no sound and it says no sound is enabled, but in my device manager it shows all sound drivers as being good and installed properly. Upon startup and shutdown I can hear an audible "pop" form the speakers, but I get nothing while it's running. I also have no access to my network and sharing center or printer menus through control panel.

    Any advice?

some people said to type NETSH into cmd prompt and then winsock reset.

When I type NETSH I get the following messages
The following helper DLL cannot be loaded...
    DHCPMONITOR.DLL
    NAPMONTR.DLL

I am also getting a message saying C:Windows\system32\GPAPI.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.

    I am running Windows 7 32 bit
    OS Version 6.1.7600

    Sam

Im gonna ask the obvious. Do you have a backup to restore from? one thing you can try is to run a system file check by start>search>typr cmd>right click run as admin>sfc /scannow.

this will verify and reapir system files if nec

    hope this hellps

I tried a system restore to the last known good configuration, but that didn't do any good now running what you suggested
    C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

    That's correct, yes?

SFC /scannow (note the space between SFC and /) is correct

same problem exists again, but SFC /scannow says there are unfixable errors, my recycle bin says its corrupted, cannot access network sharing center, and I can't get online with that machine at all

Do you have anything that you need to save on that computer? If ya do, I would recommend backing it up elsewhere and performing a clean re-install.
