That did it! Works fine now. I understand that might be one of the things I need to do after a reset, but I am not sure how that got screwed up in the first place, but...

Thanks much to all of you - much apreciated!

Windows 8.1 Pro RTM x64

You're welcome. :)

There are 2 main possibilities for this to have happened. Firstly, a brief power surge/outage. Secondly, if your router is set to automatically install firmware updates (in which case, it might have reset itself to its defaults).

Of course, that doesn't preclude the fact that it could be just one of those things. However, at least now you know what to do should it happen again.

Windows 7 64bit

Hi jasong1968,

Glad that the internet is back. As correctly guided by 'Dwarf', the 'router setup' had to be done again; and the issue was fixed.

When using a 'cable modem', you may choose to 'reset' your 'modem' before the 'router' in future. A 'cable modem' proactively restores its original functionality and establishes a fresh communication with the 'Internet' and the 'router'; has helped me to fix similar internet issues in the past many times.

Hope this helps.

Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8.1 Pro,

I've never needed to do any of this just to connect to my router.

Seems like the mac address clone should be enabled by default.

Connect router wirelessly to main router
Recently I bought a TP-Link WR841N router and, unaware of what it needed, there had to be an ethernet cable coming from the main router (BT Homehub 3) for it to work. Is there any way I can connect these two wirelessly? I don't mind whatever way I connect it to my PC.

can't connect to router
I apologize if this is posted elsewhere. I'm not much of an IT guru, so sometimes when I read a post I really don't know what I'm reading , and therefore, didn't realize the solution applied to my problem. I'm also painfully new to Win7, and really like it so far minus this internet...
