Ip address skepticism
Hi,
I'm posting in this forum because time may be of the essence. Also, I had previously set up a My Info so readers of my threads could see everything about my system going in, without me having to retype everything. I'll post some info before I publish this thread just in case.
I just had an annoying "invasion" of the whitesmokeB toolbar malware crap b/c of my foolishness trying to download and install some new codecs so my WMP could play an older .wmv file. For about one hour tonight I worked on removing it after reading up on how to do so. I think it's gone; however, I just finished arranging for a new password in a program, and the request shows coming from an IP address I don't recognize. Is there a way for me to verify my IP address and compare the two? Could the unrecognized IP address in the password reset request from me indicate some trouble? I don't want to take any chances.
