Can't connect to LAN, either firewall or router problem

Recently my router is busted because it's bet struck with thunder, so I need to buy a new one.

the problem is, after I change the router, I can't communicate with my friend via LAN, but I can connect to internet just fine. I'm using AVG antivirus, I'm suspecting the firewall, because my connection is changed to to TP_LINK 3, while the SSID is just TP_LINK.

my friend can communicate via LAN just fine, the only one that suffering the LAN problem is me.

Have you reset the router to the default settings? There might be a customized setting in there that may be the problem. Otherwise, it might be the other way around. You need to customize a setting to allow that to work. AVG usually doesnt stop that kind of stuff, but your router's firewall might. You should check the ports that your connection with your friend requires and make sure that the router's firewall is recognizing and opening them.

I don't think this would be a router problem, since other users on the LAN can communicate fine,

I would suggest disabling AVG temporary then re-test, If not, Be sure to check your settings in Network And Sharing Centre. Make sure "Network Discovery" is turned on, on both the computers on the LAN

Also check the computers settings that your trying to connect to, It could be there computer blocking you.

I wouldnt recommend reseting your router, I don't think the Router is the issue.
