Your information was spot on mangoh. The information I have just received confirms there is no hardware modification in the pipeline and as for any firmware there is no information as to when, whether or if any will be forthcoming. So back to the CEO team for me and will advise outcome.

As promised I have contacted the CEO office and spoken to a Adam Sharples who made the original promise to me of a modified superhub and after me telling him that you and I had been advised there was no modification to the superhub in the pipeline he reiterated his original promise that there was definitely a modified version in progress that would be released sometime this year. His explanation that some of Virgins employees were unaware of this was due to if there was a need to know.As this gentleman has given me his solemn promise on this issue I must accept his word.Trust and hope this helps to clarify the situation.

I think VM staff know that there will be a new SH but have been told to not say anything as then people will ring up asking for further details.

Well I ordered this as the signal is dire for me...

If your problem is weak signal strength due to computer distance from router the best solution I found when in a similar situation was one of those gadgets where you use the electrical mains system in your house to transfer the signal from your router to your computer,it also boosts the signal.I found it was fantastic in use and only discarded it when I moved the router to be adjacent to the computer. If you require further details will be happy to oblige.

The name of the item you need, and they are good,is Devolo dLan 200 AV Wireless N.Bought mine from PC World and it cost £89-99 in September of last year. You connect your router to one of the special plugs plugged into the mains socket and then plug the receiver into a mains socket near to wherever you have your computer. It works with both wireless or ethernet cable, your choice.Let me know how you fare.

    Thanks for the reply.
My budget is £120 so I might try the ASUS RT-N66U router again or use what you have suggested.

I take it back I believe the SH is to blame for your broadband issues.

Ffs just got off the phone from VM as my SuperHub isn't working. I've tried various devices, wired, wireless but they see the network name but won't connect.

The best they can do is send me another SH but it would take 3-5 working days. Meanwhile I have no Wi-Fi connection over the weekend. The reset button doesn't even work, the lights go purple on the SH indicating it is resetting but the settings stay the same. I asked if I could be given a different model instead of the SH but he said that they wouldn't work for the 60 megabyte (yes he said megabyte) service I have.

So I asked for a wireless N adapter but he said they stopped supplying them a few months back. The one thing they do good they have stopped (I already have one but thought I'd ask for second, brother's laptop). I then asked for a newer model of the SH to hear his reaction LOL to which he sniggered and said we only have the one I have available.

He tried to blame my laptop to which I replied none of my devices, laptop, computer or phone work.

It will be my second SH (might be third), I've lost count now.

Definitely adding this to my complaint to the CEO. Bad enough getting half the speed but even worse getting no service whatsoever.

    Posted from 3G connection.

    Finally fixed the issue.

I've never had such a connection like this I actually have a good idea that would take 20 minutes max and should hopefully fix your issue.

    Interested or cba anymore?

My connection is back and the best it has been in 2 years. It's still below par in terms of what you expect but that comes down to the SH.

It seems to be a standard reply to blame the customers equipment as they did this to me a few months ago until lo and behold they finally found the fault at their end.Have you tried connecting an ethernet cable from your computer to one of the SH ports, but not the one for modem mode.Have you opened your "Network and Sharing Centre"to make sure your SH is entered there.
