Remote Desktop Connection not working going in or out

I'm trying to remote into my computer, but for some reason I can't, and I have no idea why. I can't remote into the computer, nor can I remote out to another computer. Both computers are sitting within a foot of each other.

    I've enabled RDC.
I've checked the firewall; I even added a new case for the RDC program just in case.
I can successfully ping either way.
Both computers are connected to the same network, but there are no workgroups.
Network and sharing allows the computers to see each other.
I've tried using the computer name and the LAN: neither worked.
I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium on both computers.
It doesn't work with the firewall off either.

Anybody know what I can't get this to work?

You can use RDP to connect to other computers but you cant connect to a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium the computer you are trying to connect to has to be Professional or Ultimate

Why is that? The ultimate goal is to use an app called 2X Client to RDP into my computer, but that always errors out as well. Any ideas on that?

The easiest way I found to remote connect with a computer (other than RDP) is team viewer, it's free for private use and it works and very simple to use. I have never heard of 2X client
