How to hide or remove $ shares

I have a Patriot Box Office media player that I use to watch movies from my Win7 Premium pc. To be able to see the movies on the pc I went to drive properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing > Checked the "share this folder" box. Opened permissions and gave everyone Read permissions. Then Opened Security tab and made sure everyone had read permissions.

I also had to change some settings in Network & Sharing Center (but I don't think they are pertinent to this problem. I can list them upon request)

So I can see the shared drives on the media player. But when I open the page listing the shared drives I see both the share names. Example; if drive M is shared, I see M and M$. I would like to be able to hide the $ admin share names from view.

Is it possible to do this?

    Thanks,
    DVSgrace

Are you just trying to hide this folder?

    Found it

If the system does not need to be accessed or administered remotely you can permanently remove the hidden administrative shares by editing the registry. Go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters

To remove the hidden shares add a DWORD entry called AutoShareWks and set the DWORD value to 0.

If you later need to restore access to the hidden shares you can simply delete the AutoShareWks DWORD entry and reboot the computer and the shares will automatically be recreated.
