Does removing telephone and wifi helps?
Any other tips?

What my speed should be(atleast 20Mbps i think):

What do i have:

I appreciate it if u help me to fix this. Thanks a lot!!!

That "100 Mbps" is the link speed, that is, the maximum rate at which data can be transferred over LAN cable/card and NOT your internet connection speed. Your internet download speed is 3 Mbps only.

Hope you got it.

No, yeah i know that that is link speed, but at my service provider homepage says and i pay for 100Mbps down and .
I have once managed to get 26 Mbps if i had only cable connected, no tv. And speedtest running ONLY.
But it's much slower now.

Hope you got it.

It looks like you may be experiencing congestion at the local RIM or service exchange routers. You need to look carefully at your ISP contract then ask them to fix it or pull for breach of contract if the contract conditions allow ---IMO.

I've built many Windows desktops over 20 years, but now my first laptop will be arriving tomorrow and I have to learn a little bit more (like, "anything";) about networking, etc. (I have new LAN cables and a card to install, with a crossover adapter, if I need it.) My current Win7 Pro LAN...

Slow browser, slow internet, random audio ads: virus?
So yeah, I've these problems for the past couple days. My browsers (Opera and Firefox) used to load pages quickly, but now they're painfully slow. Opera lags and freezes often; Firefox doesn't, but it still takes a very long time to load pages. I'm also getting these occasional "invisible ads,"...

Gigabit NIC operating at 100Mbps
I have a Abit AX78 w/ integrated Marvell gigabit NIC. I downloaded and installed the lasted Win7 drivers directly from Marvell, but NIC is operating at 100Mbps. Other Win7 machine are working fine at gigabit speeds. Is there any configuration settings that would affect the nic speed.

NIC link speed either 10 or 100Mbps
Does anyone know why whenever i disconnected the AC power (and use battery only), my link speed drops to 10Mbps. when power plugged in, it's 100Mbps. Machine is Dell Latitude E6400 brand new. Ps: This is not OS specific i don't think, Vista and Xp have this problem so i'd more W7 too.
