Hello I’m trying to setup a workgroup but I ran into a wall so far I name my work group by right clicking computer >properties>change settings>change> in Workgroup I name my workgroup. Then I restarted my pc and that was it I’m at a wall here my question is where can find my password for my workgroup and what are the next steps to start joining pc’s to my workgroup. Another thing that I notice is that I don’t see my workgroup in Explorer are any other Group .I been looking for help online but all I can find I how to create a workgroup and they just lead up to the point where you have to restart and that’s it and that’s where I’m at a wall.
Thank you for taking the time to help!

You can Google "How to setup a workgroup" where there is several you tube demonstrations or
go into our search box(top right corner) and ask the same question. There is a tutorial for you to follow.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

    Hi lil mickey,

In addition....Are you trying to setup a Workgroup because you have a mixed of Operating Systems? If not Homegroup is more appropriate for all Windows 7 computers. Will you be doing File/Printer sharing? If it is, this will be your next step. But again, we need to know the Operating Systems of your computers that you're trying to network together to better assist you and give you some detail guides.

    Please give us a update.

This is your next step, notice that on the right side there's option for you which Operating System to choose from, I have also attached an image for clarity.

Thanks for the link it’s been very helpful I setup the workgroup and I can access files from vista to windows 7 and 8 I been using the same user credentials that are already on the wins 7 & 8 pc’s to access files on those pc’s but on vista I had to create a separate user account to allow 7 & 8 pc’s have access to the files on vista. On vista I can control exactly which files I want to share! But on seven and 8 i notice that when I turn on file and printer sharing it shares all of that user folders on that pc! Is that normal? What I need to do is have more control of what gets share on the workgroup like on windows vista on vista when I turn on file sharing nothing gets share until I start sharing individual files! But with 7 & 8 when I turn on file and printer sharing all of the user profile/ folders get share automatically all of them! And if i turn of file and printer sharing and I select an individual file to share the same thing happens again everything from the user gets share to the workgroup!
I’m still reading and hopefully I can find a solution or maybe this is normal but I doubt it!
    Thanks for your help!
