    Cable length cat5


    Just wondering does the length of your cat 5 cable mean anything? will it slow down the speed?

    In most cases, No. I've seen cable runs of over 100 ft in commercial buildings running to a hub and it did not cause any problems.

    It depends on what you are doing with the cable. If it is just for a computer, then the spec is about 300ft. If you attempt to run feed a projector/monitor, then even 30 feet can be too long. Take a look at page 8 of this presentation. That was not the link that I was looking for, but it wall do.

    Yes the max cable length for Cat 5 UTP is 100M

    More length will slow is down a small bit.
