Wierd Networking Issue

Alright, I've been googling for over 45 minutes, searched this forum, and it's hard to word so I'm just going to ask.

I recently installed Windows 7 Pro x64 on my machine. I upgraded the computer from Vista Business X32, pain in the arse.

I have a wireless network, very stable router. No connection issues.

I have a terabyte mirrored USB network storage on my router.

It sees it, I can access it.

I can copy files from it, and play media from it.


The problem is I can only do one of these at a time.

For example, I began copying 200 gigabytes of files back from the storage onto my computer, then proceeded to try and navigate the drive folders in windows explorer. The copy immediately threw an error, something about a lost connection.

At first I thought maybe my wireless was on the fritz, but my 3 other computers on the home network had no such trouble. The wireless connection on this computer also hasn't had any interuptions.


I then tested, I played a video from the network storage drive, and then when I went back to navigate folders Windows media player threw me an error.



I searched for a while, but all I can find are posts where users cannot see the storage, or don't have access rights.


My problem isn't access rights, it's the ability to multi-task or have multiple concurrent connections to the network, and it's not a network limitation because my Vista, XP, and Mac OS X systems all have been able to do this for years now.


Any assistance would be appreciated.

Cool, well that's a start I guess.

The thing is I can browse the internet just fine while doing any ONE thing on that network drive.

I also had it working just fine on the wireless card with Vista x32, and Windows XP x64 previously, so driver wise I don't imagine there is a problem.


I would think network card drivers would create a more wide range of effects on my network access than just the network storage.


I guess I'll also have to run a test with a wired connection and see if anything changes.


In any case, if anyone runs accross information on this, help would be greatly appreciated.


PS - I am using a RaLink wireless card, and I am running an Airport Extreme with a Western Digital MyBook terabyte storage.


I found something similar on apple forums regarding the network storage here:

However, again, no problems at all with XP x64, Vista x32, and Mac OS X. I don't think the airport disk utility limits the number of connections to the network storage at one time either, but if someone knows something by all means chime right in.
