Best/easiest way to share

Hello, I have a WD 1.5 tb connected to my router and it comes up as "readyshare".

My goal is to be able to have some people (friends, family, co workers, etc) be able to connect and view what is on my shared drive. I have a huge movie collection, books, etc that I would like to be able to share with people.

I allow remote connections, and I can get to my drive through my Tv but I want to know what is the easiest way, or what do I have to do in order to allow people to connect to this shared drive?

What is the make and model of your router and the WD external drive, does it have an Ethernet port?
Most of the WD or NAS device can be accessible thru it's IP Address.

I have a netgear n900 router and yes it has an ethernet port. I acutally just purchased a 4tb seagate drive which also can run through my router, that is the one that I intend to share my content on

You have a NAS or Network Attached Storage Device. It will be easier to plug in an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port of your NAS then connect to the LAN port of your router. Pop in the CD that came with the NAS and it should assign a Static IP, make a note of the Static IP Address. You may access the storage device thru the browser or when you click on Start then type \\NAS IPAddress press enter from any computers. If you want it password protected and secured some of the files, create User and Password from the NAS's settings.

I may have misunderstood, are you saying that my External should have an ethernet port on it? The router does, the drive doesn't. None do, I donot have a network bay, if that is what you are thinking
