    Remote Homegroup?

    Hey

Homegroups are great. However there is one thing that I just can't seem to do with it. I want to be able to access my Homegroup from places other than home. I have a computer with all my media and stuff on it but wouldn't it be great to keep my media at home and still be able to access it from my laptop wherever I am?

Is there any way to do this? If so, please enlighten.

    Thx

(Sorry if this is a really obvious answer. I've done my Googleing and have not had any success.)

Ok so you want to be able to access my homegoup from the internet. Change from homegroup to workgroup, disable IPv6, make an exception from eother your computers mac addy, or its IP to pass fiorewall

If this is not a fix tell us abt you network setup

@Ken: I knew you beat me with this!

mrkvchm, welcome to the SevenForums. I think Remote Desktop is exactly what you need.

See, I would, but I don't have access to my router. Also, I have found workgroups to be a lot harder to work with than homegroups. Is there any way to access my media and stuff without having to tamper with my router?

Also, since I have a thread open, I would like to be able to access the http server running on the same computer from over the internet, but again I dont have access to port forwarding settings. Is there any chance I can access it anyway? I doubt it but I figure it can't hurt to ask.

As you do not have access to the port forward settings in your router then what you need may not be possible

However you could try a 3rd party application for remote desktop access that is designed for minimal configuration.

I would suggest that you take a look at TeamViewer
