How Can the Remote Desktop be Seen for Teaching?

Can someone tell me how to make the remote computer's screen display what's being done during a remote session?
I want to access my nieces computer and demonstrate how to work with certain programs.
Currently it just shows the login screen and says that the user is logged in and she can't see what I'm doing.

    Thanks for your time.

Don't think that is possible inside Remote Desktop .

There are alternatives like team viewer and screen sharing inside Skype .

Skype - Free Skype internet calls and cheap calls to phones online - Skype
