Troubleshotting ZERO connection? No WiFi, No Ethernet, No USB tetheri

    Hi,

Dual Boot Ubuntu 12.04/ Windows 7 : something I did in Ubuntu had consequences over my connections.

EVERYTHING works fine on Linux. But as title said, not a single connection on W7.

No WiFi, no Ethernet not even tethering by USB over my Galaxy 3. But these 3 works fine on Ubuntu. Why?

I saw my WiFi and Ethernet Adapter on Device Manager, they seems up to date (I update them with drivers already from computer, so that might mean nothing).

    Here is ipconfig:

    Code:

And I add screenshot of Device Manager:

I also went to the BIOS but did not find Built-in Network card setting.

Keyboard switch for WiFi is locked down too.

I have look at different threads and post but I cannot find relating content. Help me please, I have to submitted my project version 1.2 at the end of the next week and I need to work right now or my internship is gonna turn bad

    Thanks !

Hi, try this first, open an elevated command prompt (rt.click cmd and run as admin)

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults:netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

    Reboot and try connection again.

    Thank you for your answer.

But I have already done that without results.

(have you other ideas especially in relation with the fact both ethernet and wifi stop working at the same time?)

It can be the connection from the router\modem to the outlet.

What is the outlet (I am not a native English speaker)? I found no unique explanation (on Google). But if it is about mural outlet, remember that my Ethernet and WiFi are doing good on linux (and so does USB tethering from my smartphone), so I am sure that my Router/modem is ok (maybe configuration was modified but I don't see by which miracle since I never enter my admin box password)

The solution was provided to me by the Asus Support. It is a very simple solution and it should be met more often on the forums:

He made me restore Windows system.

That does not modify your windows data nor your Ubuntu/W7 dual boot. It does not work at once. The restoreation to the point saved just before I installed Atheros driver was unsuccessful, so the one before but the oldest restoration point was ok (after the 2nd try). So it is not work-the-first-time solution, but insist and Windows will end up re-configuring itself correctly.

I am still 99% sure it was the Atheros drivers (installed over Linux) in a way or the other, because of the dates. If someone successfully have them working Linux/W7, I am always interesting in hearing about.
