Change the default gateway to the internet to 3G connection

    Hi all

I am connected to a windows domain LAN and a 3G network adapter at the same time.

Now by default, the Computer connects to the internet via the LAN. Now at times the internet via the LAN is VERY slow, so I would like to override it with the 3G connection, so that all internet traffic goes via my 3G network, which is an entirely different network

The key is here that I do not want to disconnect form the LAN.

    Thank you!

    Hi DextrousDave!

Before I can advise a possible solution to your problem I need a couple bits of information first! :)

When you say you are connected to a Domain is that through a Windows Active Directory domain or are you connected to a workgroup? This is important to know as it can affect what DNS servers will need to be set up in order to complete this.

Secondly is the 3G connection able to connect to the network on its own through an ethernet cable with its own IP address or is it an adapter which must be connected to a machine via USB or another interface?

    Many thanks for your co-operation,
    Josh! :)

Hi Shadowjk! Thank you for your answer. Appreciate.

First of all, I am connected using Active Dirtectory. The 3G connection is a complete separate connection using a 3G USB network adapter ('dongle')

You may want to look into this article on Internet sharing, while this works with cable internet connection I am not sure about its compatibility with 3G however the connection would be the same no matter what on the computer side.

    Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)

When setting up the DHCP for clients on the machine you should make sure that the DNS servers are of your domain controller (Active Directory server) and of the machine that is hosting the 3G connection

    Hope this Helps,
    Josh
