Double Click Network folder does nothing to open folder

I have a customer that when he boots up his computer one of his network drives doesn't map properly thus creating headaches with all of his applications that try to use the files on the shared drive. If I double click on the x'd out network drive nothing happens. If I right click on it, it opens properly and then all of his other programs will work properly because they can get to the shared data. If I close the folder I am able to double click on it to get into it so I know its not a mouse issue. This is a new computer that I support remotely so there is no chance of re-imaging it. Its a Dell Optiplex 9010 with 16gb of ram using a i7-3770 processor and 1GB amd radeon hd 7570. I would love to figure out a way to have the drive be accessible on startup (yes, its mapped in his network login script) with out having to do the right click.

I'm taking a guess but it sounds like the network target is not yet available when the shell tries to remap the connection after boot. Maybe a batch "net use" command after a delay would prove or disprove this theory.

I will give that a shot when I can remote into the computer and setup the batch file. Regardless of the outcome of the batch file, I still don't get why a double click does nothing where as a right click does the trick. I have waited a good 10 minutes after signing in before trying to get into the folder with a double click and nothing yet the right click does it right away. I can right click immediately after signing in and it opens the share but double click acts like I am clicking on a blank spot on the desktop.

That is strange. When you right click what is set as the default command? Explore? Open?

When I right click it instantly opens the folder, I will double check and see what the default setting is on Monday when I can remote into the computer and see what is going on.
