How can I connect to XP from Win7 via Remote Desktop

    How can I connect to XP from Win7 via Remote Desktop


    Just recently immigrate to win 7, I used to connect my XP work computer via remote desktop from home, now I cant . The ping command works fine. How can I solve this problem?

    How exactly did you RDP to your Xp before? Were you using mstsc?

    On the system proprties on tab remote...check if you have user access

    I used Private Virtual Network software so that the two computers are in the same virtual network group, then I connect one using XP Remote Desktop from the other.

    Maybe you need remote access through your work VPN. Ask your work network admin that's the case.

    I dont think so. Coz it worked just fine before I changed my OS from XP to win 7.

    Hi there

    Have you allowed program through W7 firewall or AV software if you have any.

    Note - you'll need to ENABLE the program as its an OUTBOUND service as far as W7 Firewall is concerned.

    Test first by switching OFF all firewalls and AV software.

    Your Router is OK as you can Ping the remote machine.

    I turned off all the firewalls I have, but it still doesn't work! Does it always happen when a Win 7 PC tries to connect to a XP or is it just me?

    You connect to your work VPN = understand.
