You also have to have a gigabit network. Gigabit router/switch/hub, gigabit nic card, and would suggest running cat-5e cables ATLEAST for a gigabit network.... but the initial discovery/read speeds are only going to be around 5-6mbit... my upload is around 22mbit.... read is around 12.... but then again, my network isnt gigabit optomized either.
If you still want to go the way of network drives. I would recommend the Belkin network usb hub. I have this, and works brilliantly (under comp vista mode). This device is 4port, but will accept up to 16 devices connected thru or to it. I have 8 devices connected to it now. Of course if you decide to hook up a usb hub TO the network usb hub, make sure the usb hub is 2.0 compliant or you will see slow speeds that way as well.
